Diverse Musics and Practices is a new course offered for the first time in Fall 2009, and is designed to create an opportunity for applied musical study within the B.A. in Music degree at the University of Windsor. This course allows students interested in new music, music technology, and multimedia to receive significant course credit for applied creative work in an ensemble/workshop setting. Students that successfully audition for this course will build a portfolio of creative projects including compositions in different styles, electronica, arrangements, sound recordings, and music video with a view to careers as self-employed musicians with a wide range of skills. The ideal graduate will be equally able to create music for a TV commercial, a website, or an experimental video, and will pursue their own development as creative artists, wherever that may take them.

The second season of DMAP performances includes:

FabricMusic 3
2010.10.28: Studio A, 7:30 pm.
FabricMusic 4
2010.11.04: Studio A, 7:30 pm. FabricMusic is a pair of concerts of compositions and improvisations created by DMAP musicians. The concept behind FabricMusic is that a short musical loop or groove can be used in a variety of ways, serving as the basis of an extended improvisation, a video soundtrack, a chamber music composition, or a popular song. The loop becomes a sort of musical fabric ready to be fashioned to an appropriate musical project.

Clean Sweep 2
2010.12.02: Studio A, 7:30 pm. The Diverse Music and Practices class presents a concert of soundwashes: extended atmospheres of evolving sonic design.

Light Bulb Moments 2
2011.01.06: Studio A, 7:30 pm. An evening of screenings of new videos that incorporate music in a prominent way.

Intelligence Review Committee 2
2011.02.03: Studio A, 7:30 pm. Diverse Music and Practices students present a concert of music that imagines the future of the popular song.

5th Annual Phog Phunk Phest
2011.02.10: Phog Lounge, 10:00 pm. The 5th annual Phog Phunk Phest features new music composed and performed by students in the Diverse Musics and Practices class.

Case in Point 2
